E D G E Sustainable EDGE brings a 25-year history of sustainable projects and of addressing climate change emissions in the built environment. With a strong commitment to providing more than simply climate neutral design, EDGE collaborates with other professionals to look for every opportunity to repair and nurture ecological systems. “Now that climate change is upon us, we must not only do our utmost to reverse it, we must both revisit first principles and develop new techniques, to provide responsible design for the physical, social and economic changes that will occur,” says Mario Kani. In 1982, Mario started working with Greg Allen at Allen-Drerup-White Ltd., a low energy building design and construction firm. In 1985, Mario and Greg formed the Partnership of Allen Kani Associates, a sustainable technologies engineering firm. In 2003, Allen Kani Associates reorganized as Sustainable EDGE Ltd., of which Mario now holds the position of President. Sustainable EDGE is devoted to servicing all sectors of the built environment that might benefit from sustainable design. From basic shelter to large scale projects and community development, where triple-bottom line decision-making is key, EDGE is ready to offer their leadership and practical knowledge. We recognize that a high degree of sustainable performance is not always possible in an individual project and by developing green infrastructures in concert, a truly sustainable community can result. Through collaboration with other innovative engineering firms, Sustainable EDGE can provide single-contact sustainable engineering project management, particularly for electrical engineering and alternative water/waste treatment engineering.
